The current study’s area of research is characterized by the relations between “ethnos”, “culture” and “language” phenomena. The subject of the research consists of the linguistic means of explication of ethnic stereotypes of the US Army subculture.

The article describes the women’ characters in Turgenev’s novels, discovers that there is the character of “demonical woman”, which is used in the novels often enough, besides the character of “Turgenev’s young lady”, representing his novels. According to the author the character of “demonical woman” is associated with author’s philosophic point of view about nature and with his love concept, this character is found in the novels, representing love as a fateful power which brings under control freedom. These women’ characteristic features are power and strong personality. The author considers that the character of “demonical woman” is created by Turgenev in real and unreal manners.

This article is devoted to socio-cultural phenomenon of stereotyping as an object of studies of Russian and Western linguists. This study is intended for students specialized in philology and also for mainstream audience.

The article observes the main problems of organizing and carrying out the educational diagnosis in distance learning. Studying different approaches to monitoring showed that such control types as routine control and self-control are more efficient and effective. There is a difficulty of carrying out the control in distance learning: the need for accurate identification of the learner's personality. The article discusses the process of diploma project development. The project includes development of corporate style of the company on the principle of «identity», creation of original style elements and also development of a package of promotional products for the author's floristic studio. As an art-graphic element the authors chose a «modern» style. Project-art design was accomplished using computer programs Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Lithological triangles are used in order to construct a geological lithofacies map under the conditions of significant bore-hole mud weight. The placement of these triangles’ points and their triangular coordinates do not always coincide. Gibbs triangle and Gibbs-Rosebom triangle are used in physical chemistry. The second is better developed. The planimetry theorems are the basis for the rules of constructing and using the triangle. When applying nomographic methods it is suggested to use a standard triangle to construct lithofacies maps (maps with a lithological cut).
