the article analyzes the position of Russia in «The Global Competitiveness Index 2016–2017» in detail according to the components of innovative development. The capacity for innovation of Russian companies is estimated on the basis of statistics. The process of innovative infrastructure building in the constituent territories of the RF is examined. The core measures of state support for the innovative development of the country are characterized.
