this article presents a historical overview of the activities of the ancient Greek historian and geographer Herodotus, who in his work entitled "History" described the tribes inhabiting the north and east of Scythia. According to the authors, the study carried out by Herodotus and the proposed description of the ancient northern peoples can serve as a valuable contribution to the writing of scientific works.
