Green economy models, in particular, the circular economy model, are capable of creating promising ways to build an ecological future, which requires modernization of the system with respect to a number of environmental methods and elements. The article discusses examples of implementing the key principles of sustainable development and the green economy in the activities of foreign energy and oil and gas companies, which represent a segment with the most powerful potential for introducing new innovative processes and conducting environmental projects.

The practice of implementing the key principles of sustainable development and the green economy in the activities of modern oil and gas companies is considered in the article. The authors come to conclusion that the implementation and construction of policies focused on the modernized goals and objectives of the green economy, meeting modern challenges in development, can be a direction for the development and updating of strategies of oil and gas companies in Russia in the medium term.

Понимание принципов экологического менеджмента как теоретико-методологического подхода к ведению бизнеса не только позволит сформировать более прогрессивную стратегию развития хозяйствующего субъекта в рамках научно-технологического развития государства, но и продумать превентивные меры по улучшению качества жизни общества в будущем. Экологический подход необходим в организации современной городской среды, что актуализировано в концепции умного города, использующей принципы экологического менеджмента. В этом заключается взаимосвязь экологических категорий, отраженная в данной статье.

The article carries out an analytical review of different approaches to defining the “green economy” phenomenon. The main fields and ways of using this term are described. The existing environmental management tools (environmental impact assessment, certification, auditing and the best available techniques) do not allow to evaluate environmental compatibility of projects and technologies, and are not able to specify the ways of their optimization. The authors suggest estimates of non-wastes, specific consumption, ecological and economical effectiveness, land capacity. The efficiency of reducing their values to a single integral component was proved in the article.
