Abstract
The article poses the task to consider and comprehend the philosophical views of Jean-Paul Sartre, the French philosopher, representative of atheistic existentialism, writer, teacher, playwright and essayist. The basis of Sartre's philosophy is the problem of understanding human being as a conscious, free activity. Only after the publication of the philosophical novel "Nausea" did the world learn about existentialism, the main concept in Sartre's philosophy.
