Abstract
One of the most promising modern methods of mental calculation training to preschool children is considered in the article – mental arithmetic, the main tool of which is the abacus –calculating tools invented in China. Features of intellectual development and logical thinking of preschool children, the history of the origin of methodology and abacus are described. The process of transition from work with calculation tolls to mental calculation is detailed. The article analyzes typical problems of mental arithmetic, various types of activities in the classroom, the main stages and levels of training.
