«Nightmares in Medical Practice»

Nightmares are scary or disturbing dreams which are associated with negative feelings, such as fear, terror or disgust. These feelings oftentimes awake the dreamer, who can easily recollect the content of the nightmare. Nightmares are not necessarily a symptom of a disease. Moreover, nightmares with little emotional response are experienced by almost all people once in a while without any risk for their health. However, nightmares that occur frequently and disturb the sleep might lead to clinically significant impairments in social, professional and other areas of life. They are considered a sleep disorder (parasomnia) and require a proper treatment. This review discusses the theoretical models of nightmares, their causes, diagnostics and treatment strategies.

«The experience in diagnosis and psychotherapy of students’ anxiety»

The article discusses the concept and types of anxiety, the characteristics of student age, describes the experience of diagnosis and psychotherapy of students’ anxiety during the examination session by the scientific student laboratory. The work consists of 3 stages: 1) ascertaining stage – the aim is to analyze the level of students’ anxiety; 2) psycho-corrective stage – the aim is to optimize and reduce the level of anxiety of students in the examination period; 3) controlling stage – the aim is to analyze the influence of the method of desensitization and reprocessing trauma by eye movements (EMDR) on the level of students’ anxiety.

«Structural dynamic social support model for posttraumatic growth facilitation»

The study of a social support for posttraumatic growth facilitation is described in the article. The strong correlation between posttraumatic growth and the basic assumption about just world is revealed. Stress and depression reduction is correlated with the basic assumption about a benevolent world. The evidence that the basic assumptions after trauma are affected by the social support qualities is reviewed. Based on qualitative interview data acute adaptation, adaptation, institutional and post-institutional long-term posttraumatic periods of time are pointed out. Supportive interactions for posttraumatic growth facilitation over the long-term posttraumatic periods of time were identified.

«Some approaches to sanitation relaparotomy in patients with complicated abdominal trauma»

The article deals with separate approaches to relaparotomy based on the studies of tye results of sanitation relaparotomy (SRL) in 36 patients with abdominal trauma complicated by postoperative peritonitis. The analysis of the rating information of surgeons involved in the SRL have been carried out. With a multiple organ failure, the lethality after SRL increases 4-fold. If surgeons of higher professional skills participate in the process of SRL, the chances of a favorable outcome of the operation increase, and the level of adverse outcome markedly reduces.
