The article examines the value of another person's life as a professional firefighter's attitude. The understanding of value is determined by the positions of collectivism and individualism existing in linguoculture, where the difference is in the designation of the priority of being one's own Self or the other's Self. This dilemma in the attitudes of the linguistic personality of a firefighter is considered by the example of the stories of B.S. Zhitkov and the articles of N.A. Kabelev.

This article is devoted to the problem of the formation of foreign language communication among university students of technical specialties. The approaches of Russian researchers to the definition of the concepts of "foreign language communication", "competence of foreign language communication", "professional foreign language communication" are considered.
