The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of physical culture in the educational process of training engineers. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are addressed: to reveal the essence of physical culture for future engineers, to identify the professionally significant qualities of engineers, and to study the development of professionally important psychophysical qualities. Based on the results of the study, a characteristic of the professionally significant qualities of engineers is developed, the means and methods of their formation are systematized, and the need for individualization of physical training and the implementation of specialized methods for developing professionally important psychophysical qualities is justified.
