The paper provides a regression analysis of the dependence of innovation indicators on the current state of the main economic characteristics: the current state of information and communication technologies, wages of industry workers, depreciation of fixed assets, costs of organizations for innovation, labor productivity index, internal costs of organizations for research and development, the size of investments in fixed assets of the Russian Federation.

According to the authors, foreign direct investments have a significant role in the economic development of each country. The analysis revealed that 34.3% change in export growth in Armenia and 13.7% in the world is conducted by FDI growth. This fact shows that Armenian export is more related to the FDI changes. Therefore, unlike global data, FDI growth in RA leads to decrease of export growth. This should be a signal for RA Government to implement a more effective policy for attracting foreign investments, leading the investors to the sectors, which have a comparative or competitive advantages in the foreign market.

The article deals with the problems associated with the use of regression. Much attention is given to the difficulties associated with the regression analysis. Report assessment of the conditions of applicability of the method of least squares; wrong choice of alternative methods in violation of the conditions of applicability of the method of least squares; the use of regression analysis without in-depth knowledge about the subject.

The article reveals the essence and the practical value of multivariate correlation and regression analysis. The study reveals the aims and objectives of this method, as well as the interconnections of the basic factors, studuied through the example and established by means of correlation and regression analysis on which the conclusions are based. The main objective was defined as accurate and objective managerial decision making.
