The article examines project activities as an effective tool for meeting the requirements of modern society for the education system. It analyzes the contradiction between the traditional reproductive approach to teaching Russian and the demand for the formation of an independent, critical-thinking personality. Based on practical experience, the article presents three types of philological projects ("Etymological Portrait of a Word" for grades 5-7, "The Language of My Neighborhood: A Sociolinguistic Study" for grades 8-9, and "Literary Map of My Small Homeland" for grades 10-11), which help to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and the everyday speech practices of students. The results of pedagogical observation are presented, indicating positive dynamics in subject and personal results.

The article describes different stages of interaction between the student and the teacher within a process of defining the main problem of the individual final project, setting the subject and creating a plan of action.
