Статья выполнена в русле антропологической парадигмы исследований и посвящена системе ценностей военного социума США, запечатленной в лексико-фразеологических единицах профессионального социолекта. Исследование проведено на материале английского языка и адресовано лингвистам, военным переводчикам и широкой аудитории.

Настоящая статья выполнена в русле антропологической парадигмы исследований и посвящена самобытному лингвокультурному коду социально-профессиональной группы военнослужащих США. Именно военный субъязык как иноформа бытования национального языка отражает культурно-историческое наследие и систему ценностей армейской субкультуры. Исследование проведено на материале английского языка и адресовано специалистам филологического профиля.

Предметную область настоящей публикации составляют социально отмеченные лексические особенности профессионального идиома военнослужащих. Военный социолект как самобытная ценность воинской культуры обнаруживает свою специфику, обслуживает коммуникативные потребности и отражает систему ценностных координат военного социума, способствует формированию концептуальной картины мира, воплощенной в теле языкового знака и символике.

Предлагаемая вниманию читателя статья выполнена на материале английского языка и посвящена специфике «речевого паспорта» представителя американского военного социума. Социальные практики воинской культуры отражают ценности военнослужащих и берут свое начало на ранних этапах адаптации к службе в вооруженных силах. Армейский идиом обслуживает коммуникативные потребности GI и способствует формированию концептуальной картины мира, воплощенной в теле языкового знака и символике.

The relevance of this study is determined by the importance of theoretical and practical analysis of issues related to intercultural communication. The object of this paper is the extralinguistic aspect of the U.S. military lingo. The subject area embraces distinctive linguistic phenomena of the military subcultural milieu, going back to the historical and cultural heritage of military society and thus characterized by extralinguistic context. As exemplified in English, the authors point out, that success of cross-cultural communication is largely determined both by a high level of linguistic competence and background knowledge.

The relevance of the topic of this publication is preconditioned by the importance of theoretical and practical development of issues related to intercultural communication. The object of this study is the US military professional lingo. The subject area of this scientific research embraces persistent speech formulas of the US subcultural milieu, typical of metaphoricity. This study is exemplified in English based on the analytical-descriptive method, the method of continuous sampling of illustrative material, and elements of intentional and contextual analysis.

The current study’s purpose is to unveil the correlation between the phenomena of «culture», «language», «society» and «socio-professional group». This research focuses on the military cliché interpreted as a productive linguistic mechanism for explicating ethnic stereotypes of the US army subculture.

This study is intended to unveil a correlation between metaphorical images of the US Armed Forces and ethnic stereotypes of the army subculture within the Anglophone military-political discourse. The US Army is Family metaphorical model serves as a foundation for analyzing ethnic stereotypes of mass perception of the socio-professional environment of service members. According to the authors, metaphorical modeling is perceived as a linguistic means of explication of ethnic stereotypes attributed to the US Army subculture.

This article focuses on revealing salient features typical of the socio-cultural dialect of the US Army subculture. It concludes that the military slang is perceived as an integral part of the army idiom mosaic, allowing to get into the essence of the collective and individual worldview of servicemen, as well as to identify the system of spiritual and moral values and priorities of the military.

The current study’s area of research is characterized by the relations between “ethnos”, “culture” and “language” phenomena. The subject of the research consists of the linguistic means of explication of ethnic stereotypes of the US Army subculture.
