The article examines the transformation of the position of women in the context of the colonization of Korea. The forced "discovery" of Korea in the second half of the 19th century made it vulnerable to developed states: in the course of the struggle for a new sphere of influence, Japan established a protectorate over Korea. Contrary to the expectations of some reformers, Japan did not become a pillar in the modernization of the Korean state, perceiving Korea only as a colony. The involvment of female low-paid labor and the sexual exploitation of Korean women became evidence of the exploitative nature of Japanese colonial policy.

This research was aimed to investigate the peculiarities of the emotional intelligence of basketball coaches. The study involved 22 basketball coaches (12 men and 10 women). The concept of emotional intelligence in this research as- the ability to regulate social and emotional behavior. Schutte inventory was used in the study. According to the results of the study, women had significantly (p <.05) higher estimates of the perception of emotion and managing other people's emotions of the components of emotional intelligence, while men had higher estimates of managing one's emotions. The component using emotions scores were higher in women, but insignificantly.

According to the author, the identification of sources of law governing the promotion of women's employment is important for clarifying the nature of the legal regulation mechanism, as well as for identifying gaps in this area. In the Russian Federation, normative legal acts regulating social relations in the sphere of women's employment are proposed every year, but they never come into force. The presence of the main legal gender-specific sources in the field of employment of women contributes to the reduction of discrimination in employment.

According to the author, studying the evolution of the elements and features development of interference of the Chinese clothes in the Middle Ages in North-East China, forming part of the wedding and holiday costumes of the peoples of Priamurye and Primorye, will allow to analyze and study in detail the culture of the tribes occupying the South of the Far East and Primorye, as well as their mutual influence on a modern ethnic costume as an element of material culture and design.

This article presents the results of a pilot research aimed at studying HIV infection risk self-assessment in women of childbearing age. The study involved 50 women. All ethical aspects in conducting studies involving human subjects were observed. According to the study design, a semi-structured interview was conducted with each participant. The interview was aimed at studying the socio-demographic characteristics of childbearing age women, their knowledge of HIV infection and ways of transmission, contraception use, and preventive measures. The data obtained during the study showed that the vast majority of women have the correct knowledge of HIV infection. For all women of childbearing age, it is important not to become infected with HIV. However, most women, including those who are at risk of HIV, do not use barrier contraception methods. Women of childbearing age who were at real HIV infection risk were also identified. Those women subjectively do not consider themselves at any risk.

This article covers the expression of implicit gender identity of the subject of speech activity in the 19th and 20th century women's memories. The study revealed that implicit gender aspects associated with linguistic ascertainment of gender stereotypes presented in female linguistic material form the lexico-semantic category of “Character”. Within this category, the lexico-semantic sub-categories “Emotionality”, “Fearfulness and diffidence” and “Dreaminess” play a significant role, representing the corresponding stereotypes.

The article describes the women’ characters in Turgenev’s novels, discovers that there is the character of “demonical woman”, which is used in the novels often enough, besides the character of “Turgenev’s young lady”, representing his novels. According to the author the character of “demonical woman” is associated with author’s philosophic point of view about nature and with his love concept, this character is found in the novels, representing love as a fateful power which brings under control freedom. These women’ characteristic features are power and strong personality. The author considers that the character of “demonical woman” is created by Turgenev in real and unreal manners.
