This article presents a description of the stylistic devices of expressiveness used when creating a female image in modern English literature. The purpose of this paper is to determine the most important means of describing the appearance and emotional state of a woman. The novelty of the research consists in analyzing the means of creating the image from the perspective of the female perception of the world.

Nightmares are scary or disturbing dreams which are associated with negative feelings, such as fear, terror or disgust. These feelings oftentimes awake the dreamer, who can easily recollect the content of the nightmare. Nightmares are not necessarily a symptom of a disease. Moreover, nightmares with little emotional response are experienced by almost all people once in a while without any risk for their health. However, nightmares that occur frequently and disturb the sleep might lead to clinically significant impairments in social, professional and other areas of life. They are considered a sleep disorder (parasomnia) and require a proper treatment. This review discusses the theoretical models of nightmares, their causes, diagnostics and treatment strategies.

The article deals with the poetic system of images in the poetic speech of Uzbek lyrics on the material of the poem «Oshi halol» by the modern popular poet and translator Rustam Musurmon in the original language, as well as translations into English and Russian in a comparative aspect.

The authors of the article present a brief comparative semantic analysis to define the similarities and differences between Russian and English proverbs and sayings, studying not only their semantic meaning, but also literary perception and understanding. The authors emphasize the subjectivity of perception and pay attention to the individual association of images common to two different cultures. The originality of this work is not only in the comparative assessment of Russian and English proverbs and sayings, but also in the definition of similarities and differences in the perception of the worldview of the two cultures, in an attempt to understand the reasons for this difference, as well as the causes and consequences of different approaches to the understanding of life facts. The authors point out the connection of the unknown with the already known, and this unknown is precisely a metaphysical approach to the already known stylistic techniques. A classification of folk sayings is built on the specific examples and the hypothesis about interaction of the national mentality and cultural-historical development is put forward. The authors emphasize that proverbs and sayings are not only a cultural achievement, but also a means of comparative cultural and linguistic analysis.

The purpose of the study was to compare skills of mental imagery among cadets and juniors of the Greco-Roman wrestling. To achieve this goal Bump questionnaire was used as an instrument to measure the level of skills for creating mental images in the practice of an athlete. The results showed that juniors in Greco-Roman wrestling scored higher in the skills “Creating the mood of images” and “Control of the formation of images” than cadets.

This article presents the results of the study of the mirror's imagery in Japanese literature. Also it presents the imagery of the mirror in the works of the Japanese writer Edagawa Rampo is analyzed. In addition, the characteristics of the mirror's imagery in a particular work by the aforementioned writer are presented , which in turn makes it possible to notice the similarities and differences between Western and Japanese ideas about mirrors.

The article deals with the role of imagery-aesthetic and mythical origins of binary-dyadic structure in modern lyrics. Taking the findings and conclusions of theoretical scientists, the author analyzes the ways which are used for depicting the clash of controversial feelings of the lyrical character and the split of his inner world. By means of text comparisons there is research made into the display of mythical knowledge in the system of poetic thinking of the dyad, the structure of binary opposition in poetry and conclusions are drawn.
