The article is devoted to the current problems of learning foreign language by advanced academic staff. The author outlines that academic staff learn a foreign language to upgrade their skills, therefore while teaching advanced adults it is necessary to take into consideration some peculiarities which are connected to their life and educational experience. The main advantage is in immediate application of acquired skills and knowledge. The author comes to the conclusion that, upgrading his or her skills by learning foreign language an academic becomes the unique specialist who implements innovative methods and projects.

The main purpose of every teacher is to help students understand the language and increase their motivation in learning foreign languages. One of the most effective methods in motivating is the usage of contemporary literature in class. The main advantages of such literature as well as the requirement about how to choose the necessary literature are mentioned in this article. The research is also stating the necessity of using foreign literature in the context of different competence including the linguistic and social and cultural ones, including different points of approaches on this subject – personal, communicative and integrated. The example in the work is taken from the book «Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire» by J.K. Rowling.

The article describes the problem of modern methodologies in teaching English grammar associated with the disadvantages of the structural-semantic approach, which proposes as an alternative a concept of developing cognitive-communicative grammar. This article is devoted to the teaching of foreign language vocabulary in the context of the communicative approach to language teaching. The author made the analysis of the questionnaire filled by 6th grade students of general secondary education institution. The aim of the article is to identify some of the features of teaching foreign vocabulary, as well as to provide an analysis of ways to create conditions for improving speech skills of students.
