The article gives an analysis of the artistic structure of the heroic epos of the Khanty people as the source of the national story development in the Khanty literature. As a result of the research it was discovered that the process of transformation of epic motives and themes into literary text as well as peculiarities of styles and poetic figures of speech dating back to folklore intervenes according to the author’s individual, cultural and axiological worldview.
