The paper presents an overview of the most commonly encountered Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) capable of sufficiently enriching and upgrading educational and research processes. It also discusses some results of Russian and foreign research into the current condition and prospective applications of ICT and considers the basic problems of their effective adaptation in the domestic academic environment.
