По замечанию авторов, сегодня является очевидным наличие актуальной и глубокой проблемы – проблемы философского понимания интеллектуальной собственности. До настоящего времени к объектам интеллектуальной собственности относили лишь новые знания, которые могли принести доход их владельцам, и не включались основные права человека, общеизвестные знания и информация. Задача философии состоит в преодолении однобокости суждений и создании целостного представления о столь важном понятии как интеллектуальная собственность.

В статье показаны некоторые результаты изобретательской деятельности ФГБУ ВПО «Петрозаводский государственный университет» в 2014 году. Сделан вывод о том, что результативность университета в области изобретательства в значительной мере определена системной работой в сфере формирования и защиты объектов интеллектуальной собственности.
