Объектом исследования, изложенного в статье, является инновационный вид финансовых активов на примере Bitcoin. Проанализированы соответствие данной криптовалюты научным суждениям о сущности денег, механизм регулирования, динамика роста в разрезе мировой экономики, а также её потенциальное влияние на экономику. В качестве методов исследования применены изучение авторитетной информации и её анализ.
