The purpose of the study is to present the terminology of word-formation synthesis as an organized system and identify the stages of development of its relevant terms. The scientific novelty of the study resides in the fact that a structured corpus of word-formation synthesis terms with elements of definitional analysis is introduced into scientific usage. As a result, it has been proven that the terminology of word-formation synthesis is a multilevel, hierarchically organized system, and the inventory of units within it changes at different stages of research. The system of modification synthesis terms is examined and tested with and through several proprietary novel web scraping algorithms that allow extracting the verbs of sound from digital databases of contemporary dictionaries and the National Corpus of the Russian language.

The study identifies features of potential modifications and lacuna-forming modifiers involved in word-formation synthesis in the process of generating new verbs. The scientific novelty of this study is in the differentiated representation of lexical-semantic and morphological means (verbal modifiers) that are capable, on the one hand, of synthesizing a desired meaning (verbal modification) and, on the other hand, of producing lexical gaps (lacunae). As a result of analyzing the specific modifiers and modifications with respect to the lexical-semantic group of verbs of sound, the new products of synthesis (potential modifications) have been identified. The conditions for the appearance of lacunae and the role of the lacunae-forming modifiers are demonstrated. Through a special project at the Missouri S&T (USA) using the data from the Russian National Corpus, for the first time in lexicographic practice, novel modifications, previously considered non-existent, are introduced.

The article examines the insufficiently explored phenomenon in word-formation synthesis – the intra-linguistic affixal lacunae i.e. lexical gaps. The nature of lacunar units is described as a unique type of semantic modifications that display a similar structure, semantics, and characteristics. From the standpoint of derivative codification, the major lacunae groups are identified, analyzed, and mapped out based on their lexicographic properties. The glossary selection criteria for the experimental Lacunae – Modifications Dictionary are determined. Relying on the data from the Russian National Corpus, nearly 5,000 lacunae and sound verb modifications, combined, were researched using a web-scraping algorithm from a special project at Missouri S&T. The results of this study may serve as a foundational platform for this novel dictionary of affixal lexical gaps in the Russian language.

The paper presents the tension regulator of the Shuttle thread of the sewing machine, which consists of an arc-shaped plate spring, has two holes, the first for fixing the screw to the side surface of the bobbin cap and the second for the adjusting screw. In this case, the width of the plate spring along the entire length is the same. A disadvantage of the known design of the Shuttle thread tension regulator is that it is not possible to provide thread tension due to changes in the pressure force of the plate spring along its length in the areas of contact with the thread passing between the plate and the side surface.

The article analyzes the combat activity of the 7th Mechanized Corps as part of the 2nd Ukrainian front from October 1943 to January 1944. On the basis of the memoirs of the front commander, I.S. Konev, and a number of other sources, the participation of the Corps in the Novohatskoe and Kirovograd Offensive is described. The authors concluded that the 7th Mechanized Corps as a mobile reserve of the front command was used to break through a well-fortified enemy defense.

The article examines the implicit components in the meaning of semantically modified derivatives. Using the methods of componential analysis of definitions from various Russian explanatory and aspectual dictionaries, the implicit components in the sound verbs’ meanings are inventoried. The impact of the relevant implicit components on the synthesis process is examined; the dichotomy of the implicit components of meaning and corresponding synthesizing prefixes is identified. The productivity and typical colloquial usage of synthesized derivatives is demonstrated using data from the Russian National Corpus.

Статья, подготовленная на основе воспоминаний и справочно-статистических материалов, посвящена процессу формирования и началу боевой деятельности одного из оперативных войсковых соединений Степного (затем – 2-го Украинского) фронта. Сделан вывод об оправданности формирования крупных частей, предназначенных для прорыва вражеской обороны во второй половине 1943 г.

В статье говорится, что на сегодняшний день благодаря корпусу решаются задачи, которые раньше казались невыполнимыми. Кроме того, многократно повысились эффективность и скорость обработки языковых данных, а также их достоверность. Несмотря на это в отечественной практике по-прежнему уделяется недостаточное внимание развитию у преподавателей навыков самостоятельной работы с корпусом, оценки корпусных данных, а также возможностей его использования. Автор отмечает, что преподаватели часто опасаются, что работа с корпусом требует специальных знаний по обработке данных или информационными технологиями. С одной стороны, очевидно, что корпусный подход обладает большим потенциалом в преподавании иностранного языка, но с другой стороны, он вызывает трудности, связанные с освоением этих новых технологий, которые кажутся непреодолимыми. Отсюда следует, что преподавателям необходима специальная подготовка в том, как пользоваться лингводидактическим потенциалом корпуса.

Современное образование, как и остальные сферы нашей жизни, не стоит на месте и находится в постоянном развитии. Знание английского языка, наряду с родными языком, становится общепринятым показателем обучающегося любого сегмента и параметра (вне зависимости от пола, возраста, национальности и других признаков). Для эффективного обучения английского языка были изобретены лингвистические корпуса, которые в значительной степени облегчают образовательный процесс. Благодаря корпусам обучающиеся могут изучать язык в реальном времени, изучать аутентичные примеры использования того или иного слова или словосочетания, наряду с транскриптами устных разговор. Выделение основных функций корпуса и его параметров использования является основной целью данной статьи. Такой лингвистический инструмент, как корпус, может облегчить подготовку материала для изучения английского языка, а именно практики и отработки тех или иных грамматических, лексический и других конструкций.

The article examines capabilities of Russian zoophonic verbs (those describing sounds produced by animals) to create semantic modifications. Using the appending inventory of zoophonic verbal modifications from novel sources, previously unused in lexicographic practices, the open (infinite) nature of semantic modifications’ domain, its composition and the fluidity of its lacuna zones are shown. The structure of zoophonic verbal modifications is examined; verbal modifiers, non-typical for this lexical-semantic group of verbs, are inventoried. The obstacles to successful production of semantically modified derivatives during different stages of synthesis are classified by several criteria: denotative, semantic, and distributive. The research findings demonstrate the peculiarities of Russian zoophonic verbs’ behavior as well as map out their modification capabilities during the process of synthesis.

Статья посвящена системе казачьего кадетского образования в современной России. Автор отмечает, что в настоящее время необходимо совершенствование нормативно-правовой и учебно-методической базы рассматриваемого процесса.

В статье на основе недавно опубликованных материалов, а также впервые введенных в научный оборот архивных материалов исследуется проблема тылового обеспечения Отдельного Кавказского корпуса. В статье автор раскрывает особенности воспитания и обучения воспитанников Казачьего кадетского корпуса имени генерал-майора В.В. Платошина с учётом специфики данного учебного заведения. Исследователь определяет доминирующие принципы отбора содержания обучения иностранным языкам и обосновывает необходимость их использования. Автор приводит в пример дидактический материал в качестве иллюстрации отбора содержания обучения иностранным языкам на основе доминирующих принципов в Казачьем кадетском корпусе, способствующий формированию и развитию социально-значимых качеств личности кадета посредством иностранного языка.

The article investigates the problem of logistics support of the Separate Caucasian Corps on the basis of recently published materials, as well as archive data that was introduced into the scientific circulation for the first time. The specifics of the activities of the Russian army in the Caucasus region are analyzed. The main advantages and disadvantages of A.P. Ermolov’s activities connected with improving the logistics of the troops of the Caucasus Corps have been studied.

The article recommends a new scheme of the belt drive with PPO, provides the Law of the vibrational motion driven branch of a belt in contact with an elastic sleeve of the tensioner and shows graphical variation of the vibration amplitude of movement and the speed of belt driven branch in the function of values ​​of the eccentricity and roll stiffness of the elastic sleeve.

This article explores semantic and stylistic meaning changes of idioms with the word “silki” (snares) during XVIII–XXI centuries on the basis of Russian classics and modern literature texts and publicistic writing. It is proved that the word “silki” (snares) was used as a biblical expression in ecclesiastic and some fiction texts, this explanes its strong negative connotation, which is out of use in up-to-date contexts.
