This research aimed to investigate the peculiarities of the emotional intelligence of basketball players of different levels of mastery. The study involved 33 average levels of mastery and 33 high levels of mastery sportsmen. The Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SEIS) was used in the study. The results of this study revealed that appraisal of higher-level mastery basketball players was statistically significant (p < 05) higher than sportsmen's average level of mastery. But the optimism (p < 05) was higher for the average level of mastery players. No statistically significant differences in overall emotional intelligence estimates were found between average and higher level of mastery basketball players.

The purpose of the study was to compare performance strategies of cadets and junior basketball players. To achieve this goal, a test of performance strategies (TOPS) was used as an instrument, designed to measure psychological sports skills used both during competition and during practice. The results showed that juniors, in comparison with cadets, have higher indicators in the strategies "Goal setting" and " Self-talk".

This research was aimed to investigate the peculiarities of the emotional intelligence of basketball coaches. The study involved 22 basketball coaches (12 men and 10 women). The concept of emotional intelligence in this research as- the ability to regulate social and emotional behavior. Schutte inventory was used in the study. According to the results of the study, women had significantly (p <.05) higher estimates of the perception of emotion and managing other people's emotions of the components of emotional intelligence, while men had higher estimates of managing one's emotions. The component using emotions scores were higher in women, but insignificantly.

The aim of the research is to study the peculiarities of a coach's leadership qualities through the eyes of young and adult basketball players. To achieve this goal, Leadership scale in sports developed by Chelladurai was used as a methodological instrument. It turned out that juniors evaluated the coach's behaviour more positive than adult basketball players did. For junior basketball players a more positive assessment of such coach's leadership qualities is characteristic: training and instruction, social support and positive feedback.

The study aimed to find out the differences in athletic identity between young (16–18 years old) basketball players. It was found that many indicators of the athletic identity of young basketball players selected for the national team were higher than those not invited to the national team. For they were highly expressed the negative affectivity.

To achieve this goal, the MTQ48 questionnaire (Mental Toughness Questionnaire 48) was used as a methodological toolkit. The results showed that cadets have higher scores on the «Reaction to the Challenge» and «Control» scales compared to junior players.

The aim of the research was to study the features of the sports experiences among basketball players - cadets and juniors. To achieve this goal, the Sport Experiences Questionnaire (SEQ) developed by Luiggi, Maïano and Griffet was used. The results showed that that basketball players juniors had significantly richer competitive experience and the experience of progress than cadets. When assessing the risk taking experience, no statistically significant differences were found between the cadets and juniors.

The aim of the study was to study the leadership characteristics of young and adult basketball players. To achieve this goal Leadership Questionnaire, developed by Northouse, was used. The results showed that leadership styles in adult basketball players are expressed to a greater extent than in young basketball players. Adult basketball players are more likely to have directive leadership, support leadership and participatory leadership.

The aim of this study was to examine the features of the sports sociality among junior and adult basketball players. To achieve this goal, a questionnaire by Koermer et al. (Sociality scale) was employed. The results showed that junior basketball players tend to have more respectful behavior compared to older basketball players.

The article deals with the question of the formation of the physical fitness of young football players, using complexes of exercises targeted at improving the level of young football players’ fitness and carried out within the framework of the training process.

The peculiarities of the willpower construct components of young basketball players (16–18 years old) were studied. The study used a questionnaire to evaluate the nine components of the willpower construct. It was found that the scores of most willpower components of young basketball players who achieved higher mastery were significantly higher than those of peers who trained together but had lower athletic achievements.
