The article deals with the problem of the development of materials science. The author pays special attention to the issue of the development of new materials, which is associated with the increasing requirements to boost the level of their physical, chemical, technological and operational properties and the creation of technologies for obtaining and production. The idea is substantiated that the development and production of instrumental materials is of particular scientific and practical interest. It is known that in mechanical engineering and other industries, labor productivity and the quality of machining of machine parts largely depends on the applied cutting ceramics (СС). The choice of material for the cutting part of the tool over the centuries has been a priority for science, technology and has been closely associated with the development of metallurgy, and more recently with powder metallurgy, the influence of concentrated energy flows, as well as physics and chemistry of solids.

The article discusses the features of landscape design in cities of northern latitudes on the example of the development of the project of the alley "Puzzle" in the city of Nizhnevartovsk (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia). Analog projects of urban environment design are analyzed. The concept of the project, its ideological basis, which would correspond to the style and fit into the atmosphere of the city, is revealed; stylistic solutions (minimalism) and spatial composition of the alley "Puzzle" are described; techniques of landscaping are revealed.

This methodological guidebook is based on the observations and pedagogical experience of the author. This experience is summed up and as a consequence, the theory of possible landscape painting tasks from one view is presented in axiomatic way. When designing modern sports complexes for architects and designers, it is necessary to work out both the ideological and functional aspects of the project. To create comfortable conditions, to ensure the requirements of acoustics, noise insulation and thermal insulation of it from other rooms and the environment, the design of the sports complex's coverage becomes crucial. Bearing coating structures are the most important constructive element of sports facilities. To date, there have been developed sufficiently typical projects with frequently used spans from 18 to 36 m. Coatings with a span of more than 36 m are already considered atypical and are designed individually, based on conditions. Analyzing the existing sports facilities, it was found that a wide distribution as a covering of buildings of sports facilities with a span of up to 60 m was obtained by plane structures: arches, trusses, frames. In this paper, a comparative analysis of the plane structures of the cover for a span of 60 m in the LIRA-SAPR program complex: a truss with steel columns and a steel frame is carried out. All load sensing and effects on structures are specified in accordance with SP 20.13330.2016. The results obtained in the analysis of foreign and domestic experience in the design and construction of these structures can be used at various stages of designing large-span sports complexes.

Oirats who came to the steppes of the Lower Volga region had a diverse ethnic composition, including Oirat, Turkic and Mongolian by origin groups. Many Turkic ethnic groups of the Sayano-Altai were included in the Oirats in the period of the Dzungarian Khanate. The analysis of materials on the ethnic group in the subethnos of the Kalmyk derbets allows one to draw conclusions about the Turkic origin of the group, which is also preserved in the legend of the ancestor of the genus. Comparative material on the Turkic peoples confirms our conclusions.

The process of designing a harmonious tree and shrub composition requires multi-perspective painting. Not all the landscape designer’s artistic conceptions might be expressed by placing the tallest trees to the center of a room. We suggest a few simple steps, such as using a spatial method of painting and the multi-perspective system, in order to design a good looking composition from two perspectives at an angle 180° relative to each other.
