The article considers the specifics of designing educational programs in higher education. When planning the educational results, it is important to develop all components of the educational program of each undergraduate and graduate course. The structure, content and the conditions for implementation of the educational program should guarantee the expected quality of graduate training according to the requirements of the Federal Educational Standards of Higher Education and the employers’ demands, as well as consider the starting opportunities of freshman students.

Аnnotation: The article deals with the importance of higher education as one of the factors affecting the employment of graduates studying in the direction of training "Hotel business". This article is devoted to the training of graduate students of natural science faculties of the University to make abstracts of scientific texts. The author suggests the worked out in the practice system of teaching how to make abstracts, which includes five stages of both group and individual work. Each step of the work with graduate students, as a result of which they acquire skills of making abstracts of English-language scientific texts and of writing abstracts on their articles in English is described in detail.
