The article presents a methodology for conducting an educational project for 8th-9th grade students, aimed at applying mathematical methods to analyze the environmental situation. Using the example of the Kozlovsky Municipal District, a model has been developed to calculate the effectiveness of implementing a separate collection system for municipal solid waste. During the project, students calculate waste generation volumes, determine the potential of recyclable fractions, and assess the economic effect of implementing the separate collection system. The practical significance of the work lies in the formation of students' ecological culture and the development of skills in applying mathematical knowledge to solve applied problems of the local community.

The article presents an original innovative teaching model developed and tested in an institution of supplementary education. The model is based on the deep integration of artistic and scientific disciplines (decorative-applied arts and mathematics) through continuous project-based activities. It reveals the key principles of the model, the mechanisms of its implementation within the framework of the author's programs "Creative Breakthrough" and "Mathematics Around Us," as well as the diagnosable results, expressed in the development of creative and algorithmic thinking, and sustained motivation of students. The model's effectiveness is confirmed by high academic achievements and systematic victories of students in competitions and olympiads from the district to the international level.

The work reflects the issues of preparing and conducting lessons in a playful way. The importance of such lessons for the implementation of the technology of the system-activity approach, which contributes to the formation of a functionally literate personality, is emphasized. Examples of games that can be played both in math lessons and in extracurricular activities are given. In conclusion, the practical results of such games among schoolchildren are briefly discussed.

The paper conducted a survey of 150 respondents (11th grade students and students) and analyzed their results in solving problems in logic, spatial reasoning, probabilistic analysis and algorithms. Significant correlations were found between the level of mathematical skills and such personal qualities as perseverance, attentiveness, discipline and responsibility. The advanced-level participants demonstrated mindfulness (90%) and perseverance (95%), while the low-level group was characterized by a predominance of laziness (30%) and inattention (25%).
