The article discusses the need to find new modern approaches to formation of the urban public environment, which has the necessary qualities for the accumulation, development and improvement of the intellectual and psycho-emotional potential of society. The part of the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of automation is the use of training and laboratory stands in the educational process of bachelors of the specialty 5B070200 "Automation and Control". At the department "Automation of production processes" (APP) of KSTU widely used laboratory complexes based on the equipment of world companies. The goals and objectives of the development of a new teaching and laboratory stand are determined. Studies of the selected programmable logic controller (PLC) are performed. PLC-compatible hardware and programming environment for the PLC is searched. The laboratory stand “Mechanical processing area” is selected as the control object. A flowchart of the control object and its control system have been developed. The main goal is the creation of a laboratory and methodological complex for studying the stand “Control system based on a Mitsubishi FХ5U controller” to control a real object — a belt conveyor made by Fischer Technik.
