«Sinergetics as a basis of a syllabus for the course “Foreign Language”»

The article considers one of the ways of solving the main task of the special-purpose programme of education development in Russian Federation – the correspondence between the professional education structure and content and the labor market demands. The author proposes the correlation of principles of the professional education, the professional linguodidactics and the synergetics to be the basis of a syllabus for the course “Foreign Language”. The purpose is to increase the productivity of the course in non-linguistic university and achieve the results stipulated in the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education. Due to the selected principles the process of language learning will be various enough, interactive, well-managed in time and knowledge gaining.

The authors noted that such obligatory subjects as English language for bachelor course and professional foreign language for master course occupy a special place in modern higher education. These subjects are aimed to make the educational process not only effective, but also engaging for students and to make them the main characters of this process. The exercises are effective mostly due to the raise of motivation, interest to the subjects, which are an important part of educational process.

«Technology of professional Russian language teaching to foreign students»

Having acquired the basic knowledge of the Russian language in the pre-entry courses and having started the first year at the university, foreign students face certain linguistic difficulties while studying professional foreign language. First year students should master three forms of academic speech style: an oral report on the professionally-oriented topic; an oral type of the academic speech i.e. a lecture, and a written form of the academic speech – authentic textbooks reading. The developed technology of professional language training promotes the performance of foreign students; teaches to characterize and describe the objects; provide strong argumentation of their choice; allows to understand how to use the language successfully as a means of obtaining professionally valuable information.

Education in the era of global interconnectedness requires being fluent not only in one but several languages. This article questions the phenomenal aspect of modern education for multilingual youth by teaching them foreign languages. University teachers who provide language support should have intercultural training and qualifications in foreign language acquisition that is aligned with the approaches implemented in practice. Alongside it is believed that all teachers require training to teach students without the language of instruction and to be able to value diversity by incorporating cultural diversity within their teaching. More and more countries, including Kazakhstan, are offering English as the second – compulsory – foreign language, and to shifting other foreign languages into the domain of compulsory options.
