This article focuses on the problem of developing oral activity of students of educational program «Physical education». The authors noted that such obligatory subjects as English language for bachelor course and professional foreign language for master course occupy a special place in modern higher education. These subjects are aimed to make the educational process not only effective, but also engaging for students and to make them the main characters of this process. The exercises are effective mostly due to the raise of motivation, interest to the subjects, which are an important part of educational process.

Having acquired the basic knowledge of the Russian language in the pre-entry courses and having started the first year at the university, foreign students face certain linguistic difficulties while studying professional foreign language. First year students should master three forms of academic speech style: an oral report on the professionally-oriented topic; an oral type of the academic speech i.e. a lecture, and a written form of the academic speech – authentic textbooks reading. Article is devoted to features of formation of cross-cultural competence at classes of foreign language. The component structure of cross-cultural competence and the principles of its formation are considered in the article. The features of training with the use of ICT which is promoting formation of cross-cultural competence are identified.

The article analyzes the spread of English in the modern world and the impact of globalization on the culture.

Education in the era of global interconnectedness requires being fluent not only in one but several languages. This article questions the phenomenal aspect of modern education for multilingual youth by teaching them foreign languages. University teachers who provide language support should have intercultural training and qualifications in foreign language acquisition that is aligned with the approaches implemented in practice. Alongside it is believed that all teachers require training to teach students without the language of instruction and to be able to value diversity by incorporating cultural diversity within their teaching. More and more countries, including Kazakhstan, are offering English as the second – compulsory – foreign language, and to shifting other foreign languages into the domain of compulsory options.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the content of the term and structure of a language personality in a diachronic way. Based on the historic review of the key scientific papers of Russian scientists and documents of Council of Europe in the area of language education, the content of the term and structure of a new language personality with ability to act in the plurilingual and pluricultural world as well as being an object of forming in a language educational environment is synthesised.

The article touches upon the problem of linguistic manipulation achieved in the English language through systematization of speech patterns and language frames within the utterance. The authors analyze patterns and frames as interdisciplinary concepts, verbal categories and productive means of speech manipulation, analyze theoretical premises of the issue, and give examples of practical linguistic implementation of frame-based structuring of the utterance following the existing speech patterns.
